This extra snort is the direct result of the revised powerplant. Starting up front, all-new ram-air ducting feeds into an updated airbox and new air filter.
K1300S isn’ta brand new model, as K line has existed since the early 1980s. Initially, inline-Four is placed flat (longitudinal) and thusly nicknamed Flying Brick. In the year 2005 re-created K line, now using transverse inline-Four and a cylinder attached to the front tilted up 55 degrees: the K1200S. On the surface, this seems not innovative, as most four-cylinder engine mounted crosswise bike (think Four unique to Japan), but for this new BMW the first time. Super-tour, full dresser K1200LT is the only bike to maintain the configuration Flying Brick.

The ABS system is far improved over the previous model, eliminating a good deal of the pulsation felt through both the hand and foot levers.
Unfortunately for BMW K1200S models start suffering from fuel injection and intermittent notchy gearbox. Revised mid-year model implemented in the hope of eliminating the closed throttle surging problem, but the improvement was hit-and-miss. BMW clearly admit a mistake or two when the press material states that “2009 K1200S and K1200GT again to overcome the deficiencies of previous models.”

A “step” in the intake port aims to improve combustion with the increase in torque, power, fuel and emissions. Other enhancements the new fuel mapping to increase the “partial load situations,” the new twin-throttle cable (compared to only one of the previous); a futile now control valve made of metal and not plastic, and the revised time relief valve. Redesigned airbox as well as ram air intake channels. The purpose behind the changes were mostly clean, sometimes unexpected responses exhibited K1200S throttle.

BMW says the styling was slightly updated for 2009. It’s just very hard to tell.
